Did you know that nuclear fission was discovered during Christmas? Apparently, on this day in 1938, Lise Meitner and Otto Frisch realised that a uranium nucleus could split in two, leading to a revolution in nuclear physics, the atomic bomb, and… well, devastation for millions of people which has had ramifications for our current generation and forevermore. But it has also aided space travel, nuclear energy as an alternative to carbon fuels, medicine, and agriculture.
Merry Christmas!!!
