Robots with googly eyes

I’m not a fan of the millions of dollars being wasted on making robot dogs and humanoid robots more “organic”, especially when they’re used by the police (ACAB). So how about something completely absurd like… a googly eye on an articulated robot?

The robot in question is the ABB IRB 8700 from ABB Robotics, a heavy payload robot used mainly in automotive, transportation and other heavy industries thanks to its long reach and strength. ABB worked with Madeline Gannon using human motion tracking tools and how the robot’s motion behaviors could respond with life-like movements.

Is this in the same ballpark as the robot dog that can climb up stairs? I dunno, kinda? I’m also wary of this kind of technology used for surveillance—with or without the googly eye.
