While everyone’s trying to create The Next Big Thing with AI and machine learning, Penguin DIY went ahead and put a working Bluetooth speaker in a walnut and I think that’s amazing.
But it’s not just shoving some components into a hard nut. No, this took careful consideration of the type of walnut shell that’d enclose the amplifiers, speakers, and rechargeable battery, and making sure it wouldn’t break into pieces when the shell needed to be cut. It was about precision and it served as a message to Mother Nature—after the nut falls off the tree, the shell will continue to have a purpose.
I don’t know if Penguin DIY meant this as an eco-technological metaphor but I’d like to think that was part of the inspiration for this project.
