I found WinZip’s statement on Year 2000 Compliance for WinZip and WinZip Self-Extractor from 1999:
By “Year 2000 Compliant”, we mean the following: A product is Year 2000 Compliant if, when it is used with accurate date data in accordance with its documentation, it will not produce errors processing date data in connection with the year change from December 31, 1999 to January 1, 2000, provided all other products (e.g., other software, firmware, and hardware) used with the product in question properly exchange date data with it. A Year 2000 Compliant product will recognize the Year 2000 as a leap year.
I was too young and lacking tech knowledge to know how panicked people were about Y2K so it’s always fascinating to find stuff like this. Also glad that WinZip is still around. Great software.
