Anyone who’s ever had access to a console in their lives will have played at least one Mario Kart game. Right? I played the Switch version a few months ago and it still holds all the fun from the previous iterations. The N64 version has become a hotbed for speedrunners, confirming its charm 25 years on.
The importance of Mario Kart’s evolution across the years is significant – each series entry defines the strengths and weaknesses of its host platform, and demonstrates the values, practises and philosophy that set Nintendo apart from its competition.
