I missed this back in March but a group of jet suit pilots had a race—the first of its kind—in Dubai to find the first ever jet suit world champion. The winner was Issa Kalfon who described the experience:
“Everything’s hot, it’s running, the engines are screaming at you”.
The company behind the the “Daedalus Flight Pack” jet suits is Gravity Industries and they offer flight experiences starting at £2,200/$3,500 which gets you a flight demo, a chance to familiarise yourself with the suit, and then get three runs on the Training Rig.
Beyond the recreational side of the jet suits, they’re also used by paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance Service to respond to emergencies in remote areas in the UK.
I don’t know if I’d do it but if you wanna feel like Iron Man for a few hours and you have the money spare, why not?
