Boxlapse posts time-lapse videos of plants growing over long periods and this one features the humble pine cone transforming into a pine tree. Nearly 2 years of plant growth condensed into 110 seconds. Isn’t science brilliant?

Did you know that pine cones open up when they dry out? It’s the water inside that holds them closed, turgor pressure I believe, so once the water is gone (from falling off of the tree) the cone pops open to release the seeds!
